Stories behind the Wines
“Stories behind the wines” So read on if you so desire…….. this was the line-up (left to right) ~NV Heidsieck & Co Premier Cru BRUT Champagne
~2006 Fogdog Chardonnay
~2006 Justin Justification Red Wine Blend??
~2005 Frank Family Cabernet Sauvignon
~2004 Clayhouse Late Harvest Zinfandel (dessert wine)
…….. not like they are real EXCITING……..
but still – a story – all the same! Let’s start with THIS story –
??My brother Raymond taught me to write on every bottle of wine:
where & when I got it (& what is costs) – that way when I drink it – it comes with a story.
I have a wine cellar (with about 150 bottles) and it would be impossible to
remember every story – so every time a bottle goes in the cellar it gets a label with a short story.
Memory Joggers.
~ Michael bought this wine for me for my birthday (Oct 2009).
We went biking that day & on our way home we always stop at
Phillips Fine Wine shop — so Michael did not actually select the wine
for me — but he still bought it for me. The champagne was in a bright YELLOW
bottle (my FAVORITE color) and it was BRUT (dry) ~ I like my champers DRY.
That’s that story. see? not exciting.

This wine I bought last year on our way home from our annual neighborhood dinner
??at Matt’s Red Rooster. (June 2009)
Last year it was Roman & Denise with neighbors Melanie & Chris.
We (R & D and Me & Michael) were treating Chris to dinner b/c he spearheaded
a lawsuit against our builder (which we subsequently won).
Chris spent a tremendous amount of time on the lawsuit coordinating lawyers,
litigants, paperwork & more. I didn’t want to just give him a gift card –
I wanted to spend time with him.

We are loading our “loot”. Wine & wooden wine cases.
Just kidding – there’s MORE to that story….
Melanie painted my Mailbox Leopard Print.
It took awhile from dropping off the mailbox
to actually getting it returned
adorned in the LEOPARD print but it happened & it was all good
– This year Chris & Melanie couldn’t make our annual dinner
??so neighbor Vanessa came along. Her husband Adam was out of town,
so Vanessa was flying solo. Then we discovered our friends Joslyn & Chris
??were going to Matt’s the same night we were.
??So they ended up sitting with us as well.

??
Last year I played beach volleyball doubles with one of my regular partners:Kristy.
We played in Pt Pleasant, NJ and we WON 1st Place (Aug??ust 2009).
After we leave the beach we ALWAYS stop at John Ron Liquors – a rockin’ Liquor store.
Also that day our friends Mary & Tom biked to the seashore
??with husband Michael to see me WIN!
in Belmar, NJ – a town near Pt Pleasant
??
??
???? ?? This wine I learned about at my friends
Joslyn & Chris’s wedding (November 2008).
They let me be in charge of ordering the wine.
(I’m the “wine Expert” – remember the Boat Cruise?)
It was SO DELICIOUS I went home after the wedding????& ordered a case.
This was my last bottle.
I thought it was appropriate to share it with Joslyn & Chris.
??It was our favorite wine next to the Champagne.
??
2004 Clayhouse Late Harvest Zinfandel (dessert wine)
On our?? way home from?? a bike & BBQ at Laura’s house
and her fiance Joe (Aug 2009) we stopped and got some wine
(and beer too – which certainly has been drunk (drank?) by now)
Laura lives right near Central Liquors (and Matt’s Red Rooster) –
Lucky her!!??
ANY QUESTIONS????
