A simple starfish necklace. Bought in Florida. Saved all winter.
Brought to the beach each week.
To Give to ME. That’s what Elaine did…….
Let’s back up……..
pictured below is Elaine the beach tag lady & Me.
We spend many weekends at the beach playing volleyball.
Naturally I became “friends” with Elaine – the lady who sells
the beach tags. Sometimes we would bring her water or a
piece of fruit. One thing we ALWAYS brought was a
perky GOOD MORNING & a SMILE. Last year I took
this picture with Elaine. After the volleyball season I sent
her the picture with a little note saying how it was great
seeing her each week & how I appreciated her friendliness. Additionally, I sent a letter to her supervisor at the beach saying
what a great job Elaine did & asked him to get the “Elaine letter
with picture” to her. Which he did. Elaine told me she was
THRILLED to get that letter & in ALL of her years working at the
beach she never ONCE was recognized as I had done. During the winter she happened to be in Florida & saw the STARFISH necklace.
Thought of me & bought it for me. She waited ALL WINTER to give me that necklace. The “funny” part is — I actually kind of forgot about sending the letter & picture until
she reminded me. I will often do a good deed and then forget about it & somehow –
it always seems to come back to me…….. That’s my story for today, I hope you enjoyed & maybe even INSPIRED YOU too,
to do a good deed………..
???Too often we underestimate the power of a touch, a smile, a kind word,
a listening ear, an honest compliment, or the smallest act of caring,
all of which have the potential to turn a life around.???
