Sunday 8/22/10 a day of cooking
Sunday 8/22/10
We were scheduled to BIKE today but it rained.
We were having people over for dinner so I had to get cooking anyway!
|
I had sister PAT “hunting” all over the neighborhood for BASIL.
One of the sauces I was making was PESTO & basil is the main ingredient.
Our Basil Bush was lean on production this year – so after harvesting what she could
from our garden Pat visited Martin’s, Diem’s & Hitlon’s gardens & got enough
for me to make a decent batch.
|
We had to go to Altomonte’s for some Prosciutto for the
smoked salmon vodka rigatoni sauce.
|
my number was B00 — that’s B double zero – FUNNY!
|
I was really cranking now. Pretty much done all the sauces.
We were just waiting for Michael to stop talking so I could
explain the sauces/pasta pairings.
|
far left: Rigatoni with smoked salmon vodka sauce
(i think everyone’s favorite – but i was a little
disappointed it didn’t taste more salmony)
top middle: pesto with gemelli shaped pasta to make the
sauce stick to the pasta
bottom right: a fresh, no cook tasty tomato sauce with
olive oil & red wine vinegar, sprinkled with Fresh Feta
over angel hair pasta
above the rigatoni – fresh assorted peppers from our garden-
sauteed in garlic olive oil sprinkled with sea salt
below pesto: baked fresh home made ricotta cheese
mixed with black olive Nicoise salt & fresh pepper

i feel bad not taking more pictures but I just think I was TIRED!
Next time you can come over & I’ll put you in charge of pictures.
I like that idea. Who is coming over next & what am I cooking?
