We’ve been wanting to try HOP ANGEL since it opened a month or so ago.
Tonight we had a double date with Michael & Judith from our bike club…
HOP ANGEL is owned by a guy named SCOATS who owns
the GREY LODGE in Philadelphia (which I adore!).
Needless to say – I was going into Hop Angel with HIGH EXPECTATIONS.

this is HOP ANGEL – it is the old “Blue Ox” who I
used to sell wine to.
German food is the specialty of all the restaurants
who go in here – I don’t know WHY?

Cricket Hill Nocturne Dark Lager
~The beers on tap are all German ones – not quite the style we prefer.
like i said – I guess i was FALSELY thinking it would be like
Grey Lodge – which has an awesome beer selection.

~ Meatloaf with Bacon and Egg served with Onion Sauce
Michael said it was “ok” but wasn’t real enthusiastic about it.
where is the bacon??? I don’t see bacon…..i do see egg….
maybe the bacon was IN the meatloaf?

I’m not eating this but friend Michael thought it was ok.
The FRIES – they are a whole other story….
WOW. We could order JUST them next time
& we would ALL be happy happy happy

Käsespätzle
~Cheese & Spätzle in Onion Butter Sauce
The Spatzle ( German noodle) were tasty – but not the “traditional”
ones to which I am accustomed. Tasty though. Would re-order –
assuming we go back to Hop Angel…….
