Saturday 10-15-11
Today a few of us headed up to the
to participate in the Black Bear Century Bicycle Ride.
We got an early start & were treated to this
gorgeous sunrise. Of course the picture cannot
do it justice!
Stunning views from at our arrival.
I like how you can still see the moon.
I wasn’t sure you would be able to see it –
but I can — can you??

The Black Bear Century riders!!
Michael W., Jim, Judith, Me & Michael up front.
Judith & Michael were doing the 70 mile ride.
We just did the 41 mile ride which somehow
ended up being only 38 miles – which was plenty for me!

loved the old dog helping with registration

we met a VIZSLA during our travels — Yoshi!
Of course we HAD to stop & talk “dog”
YAY – a rest stop 25 miles into the breathtaking
& challenging ride!
first Jim had to change his tire.
He didn’t need to use my bike butler.
he changed his own tire in a flash!
of course SAG VAN pulls up as we are finished changing tire
at the rest stop….. not sure we needed
underwater search & recovery……
not a busy rest stop like last weeks Covered Bridge Ride.
Last week our club had 2400 riders —
this ride only allows 500 max.
somehow I broke the cleat on my bike shoe.
(see how it is angled??)
I had to take my foot out of the shoe & wrestle the
shoe itself out of the pedal bc I couldn’t unclick it manually.
I’m just glad this happened at the END of the ride!
Otherwise it could have been trouble!

Michael said:
“We weren’t sure if we saw one bear or the same bear twice!”
