Vegetarian “crab cakes” – they are DELCIOUS.
sister Pat makes these & tricks people all the time –
they are often mistaken for real crab cakes.

Ways To Make Life Simple

Don’t try to read other people???s minds.

  • Don’t make other people try to read yours.
  • Communicate.
  • Be polite.
  • Always be honest (with yourself and others).
  • Be yourself.
  • Don’t needlessly create DRAMA.
  • Spend time with nice people who are smart, driven, and like-minded
  • Let go of things you can’t change.
  • Accept this simple fact:
  • However good or bad a situation is now, it will change.

    Fresh the movie……….

    FRESH the movie
    (October 2010)

    Fresh-the-movie

Saw this movie the other day & LOVED IT!
Basically it raises your awareness about BUYING LOCAL
and avoiding processed food. It would seem to be a NO BRAINER
yet many people – including me – don’t buy food LOCALLY
    as much as one should.

Before seeing FRESH I was always conscientious of my food choices-
but after seeing FRESH I am even more vigilant & asking others to
    choose LOCAL also.

    Reasons to Buy Local Food

    1. Locally grown food tastes better.
Food grown in your own community was probably picked within the past day or two.
It’s crisp, sweet and loaded with flavor.

    2. Local produce is better for you.
Locally grown food is not only affordable,
but since it is being purchased soon after harvest, it retains all nutrients.

    3. Local food is GMO-free.
If you are opposed to eating bioengineered food,
you can rest assured that locally grown produce was bred the old-fashioned way,
    as nature intended.

    4. Local food supports local farm families.
Purchasing food from local farmers supports the local economy
and helps farmers to retain their livelihood.

    5. Local food builds community.
When you buy direct from the farmer, you are re-establishing
a time-honored connection between the eater and the grower.

    6. Local food supports a clean environment and benefits wildlife.
A well-managed family farm is a place where
the resources of fertile soil and clean water are valued.
Additionally, the habitat of a farm
    – the patchwork of fields, meadows, woods, ponds and buildings –
is the perfect environment for many beloved species of wildlife,
including bluebirds, killdeer, herons, bats, and rabbits.

    7. Local food is about the future.
    By supporting local farmers today,
you can help ensure that there will be farms in your community tomorrow,
and that future generations will have access to nourishing, flavorful, and abundant food.

10/30/10 Porterhouse & Neil Diamond Concert

    10/30/10

Tonight we met up with some friends – had dinner then went to a
“Neil Diamond” (tribute band) Concert. Michael came to dinner with us –
but not the concert – his loss!
    Premises
We went to Porterhouse because it was near
    the concert venue.

YES, I am holding a bottle of Pennsylvania Wine.
    don’t tell anyone……
    Cimg1914
drinking PA wine — it was their “Sangria” —
seriously – HOW do you mess up Sangria?
not my taste…. next time I am bringing my OWN WINE.
Pennsylvania winemakers just don’t get it –
they don’t have the “terroir” to make proper wines.

    Terroir =

“the complete set of local conditions

in which a particular wine or family of wines is produced,

    including soil-type, weather conditions, topography

    and wine-making savoir-faire”

If you want to taste a “proper Sangria” come on over —

I have a batch brewing RIGHT NOW!!!!

We had a blast — Sooooo much fun!

Seriously – it was a RIOT.
Women were acting like this guy WAS NEIL DIAMOND…
    news flash … He wasn’t…….

    Saturday 10/30/10 BIKING!

    Saturday 10/30/10

It was a nice day so we thought we’d get a little bike ride in (26 miles)

after our morning stuff  & before our evening “stuff”…..

    Cimg1864
Halloween decoration on the front lawn
of a house next to the general store
    in Ivyland borough
    Cimg1872
first stop before biking is the Ivyland general store to
grab quick sandwich – can’t bike with your
    fuel tank on Empty
    Cimg1875
inside the general store – it’s quite quaint.
It recently started opening on Saturdays.
The food is always good & they are super nice.
It’s always nice to support local businesses.

10/30/10 ~ on the bridge into Frenchtown –
    almost finished our ride.

26 miles at 14 mph which is GREAT for me.
    the ride was flat……..

    Cimg1892
we made a pit stop at the Bridge Cafe in Frenchtown, NJ
(8 miles away from our starting point)
    Cimg1893
the gourds reminded me of geese!
    Cimg1895
    the coveted home-made Vanilla donut….. we shared….
since we only rode 26 miles we didn’t feel we
    each deserved one….
    Cimg1897
I HAD to try this ice tea/lemonade –
bc it was ALL POSITIVE —

Each bottle had positive saying in it.

    Ed & Joanne —-

friends we made at Bull’s Island – where we started (& ended)

our ride. We found out they lived near us & wanted to

get more involved with biking so we gave them

our bike club info.  By chance – anyone know them???

    Cimg1899
house near the farmer’s market where we went after biking
    Cimg1901
The farmer’s market in Stockton is a good
1/2 hour from our house but it is right on the way
home from biking so we always stop.
We are TRYING to buy local, non-processed food!
    Gotta start somewhere!
