“My name is Helen, too” the train lady said, as she stared at my chest. “I was named after my grandmother.” AH – I was making friends AGAIN because of the NAME TAG. People TALK to ME when I wear a name tag. Even if it’s just to tell me “You forgot to take off your Name Tag”. I just wonder – WHAT are they THINKING when I see them on the 5:30 a.m. train & they make that comment?? Forgot to take off the name tag FROM WHEN?? From sleeping with my husband or an early walk with my dogs?? Could they even use their brains a little bit and think, just maybe, since we are on the earliest train possibe that JUST MAYBE, i intentionally put on the Name Tag? Maybe I answered MY OWN QUESTION… IT IS the EARLY train – no one’s BRAIN is functional at that time! I can barely muster the brain power to complete the Sudoku when I commute on the early train…. Me & all the construction workers – woo hoo!

The other day I was reading a BLOG POST written by SCOTT GINSBERG – my inspiration for wearing a name tag (http://www.hellomynameisscott.com/landing.aspx). Scott is an author & lecturer – I am not sure about the millionaire part. In any case – I thought to myself THIS IS WHAT I WANT TO DO (what SCOTT DOES) – thus encouraging me to write the BLOG. WRITING, I decided, would be a good start to the “AUTHOR part” of what I want to do when i grow up!
I’m going to try figuring out how to get pictures loaded in a timely fashion. Last time PETE helped me upload photos it took a stupid amount of time & it felt prohibitive to get this BLOG up and running. My aspiration is to create a compelling & engaging BLOG. Let’s see how Helen does…….
