Saturday 7/17/10 Volleyball Victory, tragedy on the beach

Saturday 7/17/10

 

Played VOLLEYBALL today with DIANA – one of my regular partners.
Our tournament was in Pt Pleasant, NJ – about 1 hr 15 minutes from Ivyland.
Michael biked down to the seashore to watch us play. (100 miles)

the picture came out awful – then I looked AGAIN –
& i thought, hmmmm – it’s kind of cool?

Sometimes I play with Suzy but today since I
was playing with Diana – Suzy bumped up
a level & played with Greta.

Me & Diana — we ended up PRINCESSES today (2nd place)
I think there were 20 teams – so we were happy
but VERY VERY TIRED. it was a loooooong day!

When we went to collect our prizes there was
an ENORMOUS amount of Police Activity on the beach

Everyone was curious, naturally

What I heard was the rescuers were looking someone
who got pulled out with the tide & couldn’t get back to shore.
The lifeguards left a couple hours ago.

This was the family whose family member was being
rescued/searched for….
It was NOT a pretty scene….

the ENTIRE block was filled with Emergency/Rescue Vehicles

As of Sunday – the search is still on – very sad šŸ˜¦

when we heard all the sirens Diana said:
“I wonder what my kids did?”
Well….. her son had a little foot accident —
YUCK – we were wondering if his toe was broken?

We found a fun raw bar/restaurant the next town over
in Brielle, NJ  — we like clams & oysters … and
a grey goose dirty martini….. well deserved!

    Did they ever find the missing swimmer? So very sad.

    Sadly, no. It was really very surreal being there amongst the chaos. I actually am kind of happy i was taking pictures b/c i think it helped keep my mind off the reality of the situation.
