Tuesday 5/7/13 gym, Chester news :( ,day 2 on the job /Appointments

Tuesday 5/7/13

The job’s been kind of stressful.
I NEEDED the gym today. really.

Chester’s “problem”.

The dog doctor called to say Chester’s lab report
showed some abnormal cells.
He suspects Mast Cell Tumor & will do a biopsy
on Friday to confirm what he thinks.

Chester getting a warm compress

This was my first appointment today.
I went on sales calls with my boss Joe today.
We met with Rui & they need Pitu – a type of Cachaça
(Brazilian rum). This could potentially be a good account.

This will never be an account – they buy their
wine right from the liquor store bypassing Reps.

Not sure if we can do any business here.
They do catering so it could be good?
Do you know any contacts here?

Stopped here to see my friend Frank –
he’s the Chef. He gave me information
on when to see the owner who buys the wine.

Tony’s of Ivyland…. Good potential here!!
Met briefly with Joe the owner.
I just have to figure our what wine to sell them!
& HOW to sell it…..

Chester relaxing on the new sod

Picassa snacking on Dog Food!

Every year we have Duck Visitors, we are wondering if
they are the SAME ducks. Can they be???

Sebastian & Sugarplum roosting on our neighbors roof.

There is Sugarplum having a drink, see her??

Neighbor Denise brought this over & we
chatted about my job struggles & Chester issues.
Thanks Denise!!!

I was pre-gaming with this:

(a country near Russia)

5/6/13 First day at new job, Volleyball, Iron Abbey

5/6/13

I start my new job TODAY!!!

It’s exciting and a little nerve-wracking at the same time.
You get it, right???

The company is called WINEBOW –

Remember the name by how my friend Joyce remembers it-
Like RAINbow but WINE instead.

WINEBOW!

~the first day was FINE – but as you might guess it was
Information Overload. Why do new companies try to teach
you EVERYTHING in one day. It was a bit overwhelming
but in time, I’m sure I’ll get it………

needless to say – a night of Volleyball was GOOD
to keep my mind off work & just relax a little.

Net adjustments!

after volleyball, friend Jim & I always stop by the Iron Abbey.
It actually turned into work for me bc I met Rui who
I had an appointment with the next day!!

Sunday Cinco de Mayo 2013 gym, Broad Street Run, Pour House

Cinco de Mayo 2013

SICKO DE MAYO —
not to be confused with Cinco de Mayo….

I NEEDED to go to the gym today.
It’s been over a week since my last gym class.
I missed Kristin. She is the BEST instructor
I have EVER had!

LILY saying HI MOM so I could send
the picture to her mom (Tanya)

Jimmy, Debbie, Tanya & Dan
~ all ran the Broad Street run today (10 miles!)
Congrats & good job every one of you 🙂

the only way you can get me to run 10 miles is if
you throw in about 20 or 30 obstacles!

Me with Deb & Tanya

RUNNING teaches us to keep moving forward,
one step at a time, especially in the most
painful moments.

Lame Cinco de Mayo Margaritas.
We ordered side shots of Patron.

The beer sampler line-up

DELICIOUS Portabella sandwich that I sadly left behind.
No leftovers for lunch 😦

Dogfish Night May 8th
You can bet we are attending this event!!!

Saturday May 4th 2013 Veterinarian, Bikie Ride, Danny, Derby Party

Saturday May 4th 2013

Chester’s been having an “issue” with his leg.
Some kind of lesion. The vet was taking a culture
& we are waiting for pathology reports

After the vet we did a bike ride with our club

we only rode 17.9 miles because we got there
late (bc of taking Chester to the vets)
& had to go with a later ride

afterwards there was a big picnic for the club members

We stopped off and saw Danny Diehl –
he was working at a festival nearby

Tonight was our Kentucky Derby Party.
Judith & Michael were the hosts.

We mad Blueberry mint Juleps & they were fantastic!

Friday May 3rd 2013 “unofficial” work, Chester , Trios pizza

Friday May 3rd 2013

I don’t officially start my new job until
Monday May 6th but I went in today for
a Sales Meeting & Wine Seminar.

Heck – I didn’t know it was
Bring Your Dog To Work Day!!

our admin was dog sitting so she
brought Charlie into work with her –
he was quite adorable!!!

This one of the wines we learned about today
& as a bonus I got to bring it home 🙂

We are going to a Kentucky Derby party so
I acquired some accouterments for the event.

Michael was laying new sod in our yard.
Chester HAD to lay where the new stuff was!

Yup, he is still there guarding the sod…..

For dinner we treated Pat to dinner.
She held down the fort & took care of the dogs while we were away on vacation.
I HAD to go to a byob place so I could drink my awesome wine that I brought home from work.

We tried to go to TreVi in Glenside but it was
booked solid – who would have thought??

YELP to the rescue —
we ended up at nearby TRIOS.

the salads were BIG — enough for 2 maybe 3 people to share

mmmmm – their famous tomato pie –
yum!

Thursday 5/2/13 San Francisco to Ivyland last vacation day

Thursday 5/2/13

friend Joslyn lives in Sausalito, CA
She let us crash at her place before heading back to Ivyland.
We were hanging out the night before & can’t believe
we didn’t get any pictures!!! I’ll blame it on the
FIVE brew pubs we stopped at earlier in the day!

Golden Gate Bridge
~on the way to SF Airport

we were early for the plane which is WAY BETTER
than being late!!! This was our only down time
of our whole vacation. 2 hours before the plane left!

Goodbye San Francisco – we had FUN!!
maybe too much???

view from First Class……
Snow capped mountains – not sure where this is.

ahhhh back in the city of Brotherly Love.
Vacation WAS GREAT but it was nice to be home!

Come get us Winner Airport Parking!!!

Of course we had to celebrate our coming home
with a Celebratory MONGO over at neighbor Deb’s house.

and….. we broke out ONE of our coveted Pliny the Elders
that we snuck home on the airplane.
We have 7 more that WILL be rationed.

well…… I needed SEVEN pairs of shoes for our
SIX day vacation — and I wore EVERY pair!!!

day 6 vacation May 1st 2013 Russian River adventure then Sausalito

May 1st 2013

I designed our last vacation day to appeal to Michael.
We planned to visit THREE breweries and ended up visiting FIVE.
It was a bit much, but hey….. we were on vacation!

It was quite nice waking up to this view
from our “secret Cottage” in Glen Ellen

The view on our ride out to Russian River.
The pictures never do the views justice,
but trust me – they are spectacular!

first stop Bear Republic Brewing Company

http://www.bearrepublic.com/

making the brew….

I love you Bear 🙂

next unplanned stop was Third Street Aleworks…..
the bartender at Bear Republic told us to try it.

they had an extensive sampler program…..

our 2nd PLANNED trip was Russian River Brewing.
I really liked it here & could have stayed all day!

http://russianriverbrewing.com/

their line-up was MORE than stellar!!!

Lagunitas was a planned visit –
their logo is a dog on a bottle cap –
you can kind of see it here.

http://lagunitas.com/

Lagunitas dog – not THEE actual dog though

this was the Lagunitas “Tour” —
they actually just poured you a sampler
& told you the history & stories about Lagunitas
while you hang out in this lounge

Last stop was Moylans.
They have a program where you can buy
a friend a beer the next time they come in
even if you are not here. Kind of cool.

http://www.moylans.com/

Now we were off to Sausalito —
this is the view from friend Joslyn’s apartment.
Stunning!

We met up with Alana Gentry who I know through
friends on Facebook. We have talked on the phone,
exchanged emails & FB status updates – but had never met
in person until today! It was FUN meeting Alana.
