3/31/13 biking on Easter Day

3/31/13

Chester wants to go biking with us.
We haven’t taught him riding skills, yet….

We wanted to check out this Bridge Closure
on Rushland Rd.

Michael doing some reconnaissance

Such pretty views where we live

We saw some guys out on an Easter morning ride.

This was pretty cool to see.
I always like to stop & give the horse right of way.
Sometimes bicycles spook them.

We did a short ride – a little over an hour.
Just 16 miles – but better than not riding!

We did go down one of the hills pretty fast –
41.1 mph – that’s quite fast!Time for the Easter Feast!

Saturday 3/30/13 A Nature Bike Ride & The Pour House

Saturday 3/30/13

We were off on a Morning Spring Bike Ride –
but first the guys had to tend to
MJ’s flat tire issue…..
Then we were on the road….
we didn’t plan on a “Nature” bike ride –
but we’ll take all the sightings we get….First “sighting” — a Blue Heron in flight!
These birds are Big AND they FLY!
Next we saw these Longhorn Steer.
We usually always see these guys & love seeing them.
They are BIG awesome creatures!
Now this is something you don’t see everyday.
A red-tail hawk hanging out in the creek.
This was truly a unique treat.
Ride leader Roy with MJ, Bruce & Phil behind.
Michael was ahead.
THIS bird was totally awesome to see.
A pileated Woodpecker.
sooooo cool! These are BIG BIRDS.The pileated woodpecker is about 15 inches in length and is one of the largest woodpeckers found in North America
We took a rest stop at the Sergeantsville General Store.
They are Biker Friendly. Actually, we are cyclists.
Bikers are generally people who ride motorcycles.
Our next sighting was
a Painted Turtle sunning himself on a log.
and of course, what’s not fun
about these OREO COWS??
All we need now is a glass of Milk!
we often see bluebirds & bluejays
but this was a rare treat!
We saw an Indigo Blue Bunting!!!!
A great ride. Thanks for leading Roy!!
MJ, Helen, Phil, Roy & Bruce
We rode 25.6 miles ….almost a Marathon!
A great early spring ride.
A group of cyclists in a bike race stopped
at Bulls Island rest stop to refuel.http://www.hellofhunterdon.com/
After biking we stopped at Stockton’s Farmers Market.
This is the place to be on a weekend.
Supporting Local businesses, the market is packed
& has an awesome vibe.Check it out:http://stocktonfarmmarket.com/
I came specifically for these delectable treats: Truffles. This is Tom Sciascia, the owner of Sciascia Confections(pronounced Sha Sha)
I first tasted these tasty treats at brother Raymond’s house
& knew I needed my own stash. Each of the Truffles I got were Cordials.
Filled with Champagne, Bourbon, Whiskey, Scotch,
Stout, Wine….. mmmmm!
I plan to savor & report on each one.Stop by & tell Tom that HELEN sent you….
Though I am warning you – once you taste
his perfectly crafted Chocolates, you won’t
want to eat any others. These are pure decadence.
Trust me. you WANT these!!!learn more about Sciascia Confections here:http://thepaintedtruffle.com/about.htm
I also picked up some Truffle Butter at the market.
This stuff is like crack – addicting, really.
Later, Michael organized a Bike Club meeting
here at the Jamison Pour House.
He wanted to discuss a bike ride he is planning.
Had the same Line-up as the other night.
They didn’t add many new beers to their list.
Cheers to Michael for organizing. He gets a point.

Wednesday 3/27/13

I always wonder why I run out of time
to do everything I want to do.
I then review my day & say:
OH, THAT’S WHY!

does this happen to you too?

I started my day with these interesting little morsels.
ENERGYbits. http://www.energybits.com/Here is my “full review” of ENERGYbits :

http://whatwouldheleneat.wordpress.com/2013/03/28/energybits/

now that I swallowed a handful of ENERGYbits
I am all ready for BOOT CAMP (with Maddie, of course)!

The new Bakery at FRED’s breakfast Club in New Hope.
Now you can take their tasty treats home!

Personal Mugs now have their very own space.
Don’t touch….well, YOU know you are always
welcome to use my mug when visiting Fred’s.

On Wednesday’s ONLY, Fred’s offers a breakfast burrito.
There are a couple good things about this breakfast.
One, it is simply delicious & Two, I can usually get
another meal (or two) out of it.I met a couple Jazz musicians at Fred’s today.
It was interesting to learn we had several
common acquaintances.

The Polished Pup was recommend to me by
Michael’s sister. The dogs NEEDED manicures
so today I thought I’d give it a try.
No Appointment necessary.http://polishedpuphatboro.com/

Weasel & Chester NOT HAPPY about their nail appointment.

Weasel pretty much didn’t care what was going on.
Her nails looked fabulous when we were all done. The Polished Pup really did a GREAT job.
They were super nice to the dogs.
We’ll definitely be going back!

Later, sister Pat & I went to BASICALLY BURGERS
located in Doylestown – about 20 minutes from Ivyland.
We had a coupon & I’ve been wanting to try this
place for awhile as I am Facebook friends with them.http://www.basicallyburgers.com/

This is Jason the owner, cook, cashier, server…..
