It’s definitely a “re-order”

Thursday 1/19/12 Dentist, Wine, "book"

Thursday 1/19/12

I get “concerned” because when I get up early

& go right to work then come home it makes

for a challenging day to come up with

material for Picture of the Day…….

fortunately (?) I had a dentist appointment –

just a check-up….. the scary hallway to the

dentist chair…..

Geri the dental hygienist — she is also the wife

of my dentist Paul Reuter (great name for a dentist?).

It’s cool seeing them because we do our 6 month

“life check ups” as well as dental check ups…..

Wonder what I will be reporting to them in

6 months………..any guesses?

I offered to proofread a Press Release for my

friend Stephanie – winemaker at David Fulton Winery.

Here are my supplies to proofread.

Ruler, glass of wine & pink pen.

Red is too harsh….

Wednesday 1/18/12 bluebirds, dogs, Men on Wall

this is what bluebirds eat for breakfast (lunch & dinner).

I feel so fortunate getting them coming to my feeders –

especially in the winter

Bluebird of Happiness feasting…

I feed them & they come, funny how that works.

I had two males & one female today. bluebirds.

1/17/12 Breakfast, Hawk, toastmasters, Chester

I made a Mexican fiesta brunch today.

Over easy egg atop refried beans & rice,

topped with jalapenos & salasa. mmmmm.

Pat got me these eggs b/c they were on the list.

I like the farm fresh eggs from down the street but

in a pinch these will do.

Red Tailed Hawk that crashed through a friends window

& landed on a ceiling fa.

Well this does not happen every day…..

but it DID today……

Michael’s weekend project.

Painting all the rocking chairs.

they match the house.

I was the WORD MASTER tonight at Toastmasters.

I chose SUBTERFUGE.

Subterfuge

means a plan or action to hide what you’re doing.

Apparently it wasn’t a big hit.

It was used only THREE TIMES tonight.

lame.

I JUST read about this museum & had no idea

it even existed. I told Michael about it then

sent the advertisement to a friend who likes

Civil War stuff. I was amazed when I walked

out of Toastmasters there was a sign

directing me to this place I JUST learned about.

We’ll have to go!

1/16/12 Brewing Beer. my first attempt

our friend Jim & his friend Chris have been

brewing beer for awhile. I asked to be included

next time they brewed a batch. Today was the day!

We were making an Imperial STOUT today.

it all starts here –

where you put in the grains & water

& the magic begins…..

you need this stuff: WYEAST

100 Billion yeast cells —

I lost count after a million….

the “RECIPE”…..

the guys get a few recipes that sound interesting,

combine the best of what they like

& come up with their own concoction……….

beer making stuff……..

the grains go in the mash tun

boiling water next…..

stir up the pot………..

the hop measurements

quite scientific …..for the most part

draining out the first batch

Portable refractometer – measures the sugars in the brew (similar to brix in wine)

1-16-12 A day of errands…….on MLK day

A day of errands – someone has to do it!!

I don’t mind – I like running errands!

Mailing Mail at the post office even though

it was CLOSED for the holiday.

I’m friends with WHEEL WORKS on Facebook

& they posted they were OPEN on the holiday.

The LEOPARD mobile was overdue for a wash.

They do a stellar job hand washing cars.

– needed to return a milk bottle

that we had put a deposit on.

Got our 2 buck deposit back – then

spent $49 on?????

TRADER JOE’s for All natural dog biscuits.

It is ALWAYS busy here!

The SUPER GIANT was my first time here….

and it WAS BIG!

after running errands we took the dogs for a walk.

Saw my Bluebirds (of happiness) hanging out front

on a tree on the Common Green.

This is where I always take the dogs for a walk.

They have fre e poop bags!

I made a new chicken dish —

called ACCIDENT AL CHICKEN.

I was not particularly fond of it but

everyone else thought it was ok.

I also made something called slow cooked broccoli

which I didn’t’ really quite like either….

I saw a cardinal – it was a GREAT DAY!!
