Neighbor Todd organized the now traditional

post Thanksgiving Football game.

We play first with all the kids & this year

the adults played a game later.

11-25-11 New Galaxy Diner, reading, new computer, wine

11-25-11

there’s a new diner in town.

thought we’d give it a try.

New Galaxy Diner

(formerly a Wendy’s)

Not only is it a DINER but it’s a

family restaurant as well!

I went basic with a bacon cheese omelette.

It was pretty tasty. Would have liked my

hash browns a little more well done.

We had the chance to sit in the Sun Room.

It was nice.

a new computer for me. I’m still getting used to

Georges Duboeuf Beaujolais Nouveau 2011

My review of this years (2011) Beaujolais Nouveau

Georges Duboeuf Beaujolais Nouveau 2011

All the craze on the 3rd Thursday in November, every year,

is the release of the Beaujolais Nouveau.

Beaujolais nouveau

is a red wine made from Gamay grapes produced in the Beaujolais region of France.

The wine is bottled about two months after the grapes are harvested.

This leads to a very young wine with very little tannins (dryness).

Beaujolais Nouveau is intended for immediate drinking and not for keeping.

Drink up!!!

How does it look:

The Beajolais is youthful. It’s color is a light purple.

What are we smelling?

I’m getting hints of strawberry. Smelling some raspberry & peach too.

Also picking up some floral tones.

I’m tasting what???

The Beaujolais tastes young, fruity & juicy as it should!

Picking up hints of red cherry (& maybe even a little banana?).

Smooth finish.

Overall Experience:

It’s a soft wine yet a tad dry considering it’s youth.

It’s a tasty wine & when served slightly chilled makes for pleasant drinking.

Thursday Thanksgiving 11/24/11 Biking & dinner

Thursday Thanksgiving 11/24/11

~ We traditionally go biking on Thanksgiving….. IF the weather cooperates.

We got really lucky today as it was a gorgeous day to ride!

Bright & Sunny – not too chilly, not much bundling up needed.

We stopped at friend Joyce’s house to check out her

new Turkey Pan but she didn’t want her picture taken!

I got my picture with Joyce’s dog Belle instead —

Belle hated being picked up – too bad!

We often ride through this cemetery – it’s always so peaceful

at one point there was this murder of crows

(did you know that’s what a group of them is called?)

it was actually a little spooky (like the movie

THE BIRDS) and it was QUITE NOISY!

We ended up riding 16 miles today.

A little over an hour. It was nice getting some fresh air.

The dogs got a long walk after we went biking.

Exercise for all!!!

We stopped by the cool house with all the

Christmas Decorations!

We were having relatives over for dinner at 5pm.

sister Pat was in charge of everything but I threw in

a couple last minute contributions.

last night friend Jim told me about this

tasty appetizer he makes. Hotdogs wrapped in

bacon done in the crockpot.

I thought I’d give it a go.

They turned out ok but I’d like the bacon to be

a little crispier. Next time I might try cooking them

in the oven to get them crispy.

My famous new (non-alcoholic) Sparkling Pomegranate Punch.

It was quite a hit & the recipe was requested by ALL!

dinner was served.

to save time & effort Pat got a ham & turkey

breast from the Ham store.

the Ham was good but the Turkey breast left

something to be desired. It wasn’t quite

the same as, well, TURKEY!!!!

I remembered to break out the Beaujolais Nouveau……

….after dinner…..oops.

It was fine — no one really drinks anyway.

I take care of that department……..

getting the Mathis family boys to line up

with Danny for height comparison……

Chester loves to go through your legs

& get his hindquarters patted.

He’ll do this all day long.

11-23-11 cheap gas, walleyball with JIM, Tonelli’s for Dogfish

One of the perks of working in NJ is that

I can buy cheap gas…only $3.07 for regular —-

when I left work it was lowered to $3.05!!

We sold A LOT of this today —

the French wine Beaujolais Nouveau 2011.

This was the best vintage in 60 yrs.

I usually don’t even like it, but this year

was actually kind of drinkable!

It’s Wednesday which means we play Walleyball!!

Our friend Jim is going to start playing with us!!

We won all THREE of our games — thanks to Jim!!

We are back in the running to make playoffs!!

after Walleyball we stopped at Tonelli’s because

they were having a Dogfish Head Tap takeover.

We got there a little late so most of the beers we

wanted to try were already gone 😦

OMG – I loved this sign outside Tonelli’s store.

I almost wanted to apply!!!

I ended up getting a Burton Baton draft beer by

Dogfish Head – I liked it!!

it’s been MONTHS!!

I needed some pampering…….

A dinner adventure – in a fun way.

I am doing a holiday wine/food pairing presentation for Jesse

& we had a few things to talk about.

PLUS the local Rotary got a percentage of revenues from

those eating at Tonelli’s tonight.

I was backing into our garage & when I turned around

i found this HEADLESS TURKEY!!

it scared the bejeezus out of me!!

Not sure WHY it is there…….

sister Pat has continued with her holiday cleaning.

the cat still insists on sitting in her chair-

where ever it is located. She is, however,

keeping one eye on the vacuum cleaner.

Here’s my reading room, sparkling clean.

When we were little, my mom used to tell us if we put

them in a drawer they would turn into kittens.
