We haven’t really biked much since returning from Maine.

Friday 9/16/11 Career Conference, Mammogram Bus!

Friday 9/16/11

My friend Dave told me about a Career Conference being held out in Malvern, PA.

Unlike most places we go to it is NOT 20 minutes away — it is more like an hour.

It was an informational conference which featured industry speakers, HR specialists,

and resources such as resume writing, career assessment/coaching.

It also included breakfast & lunch catered by the wonderful Crocodile Cafe. woo hoo!

Penn State, Great Valley Campus is where it all happened

there was LITERALLY a line out the door….

a lot of people out of work…..

doesn’t make me feel better being in those ranks….

Many were out of work for a long time.

It was a state of the Art facility –

if I guessed about 150 people attended.

More women than men. Most were “older” too.

I can NEVER resist getting photos of service dogs.

They are AMAZING!!!!

it was a gorgeous day. many ate lunch outside.

A couple weeks ago friend Mary said let’s go to the bar & get mammograms.

She wasn’t kidding!!! The local pub teamed up with Fox Chase Cancer Center

& brought the mammogram bus to the parking lot.

this was an ingenious idea because so many women

don’t make the time to get the proper screening.

This made it easy!

Thursday 9/15/11 Bucks Happening Train Ride, Triumph Brewing Company

I was looking forward to tonight’s event. A group I am Facebook friends with,

BucksHappening was celebrating their 2nd Anniversary.

BucksHappening (www.buckshappening.com) is

an online magazine and is a source for everything happening in Bucks County –

where I live. I love what they do & love their entrepreneurial spirit & wanted to

meet the brains behind the business. As many of you know this is something like

what I already do & would like to pursue as my “real job”!

Tonight’s adventure was held on the New Hope Ivyland train.

Both are super nice & quite energetic with

The weather has been kind of iffy but this was the PAY-OFF —

a rainbow!! At this point I was really wishing I had brought

my good camera (and knew how to use it).

After the train ride we stopped over at Triumph Brewing Company

because Mary didn’t really get to eat since she was delayed in traffic.

Triumph is located right behind the train station.

cozy pigs puff pastry, andouille, chipotle sour cream, honey –

these were ok…. not as good as the Pigs in the blanket neighbor Chris makes!

lame cheese plate for 12 bucks?

I saw other food people had food that looked good but really wasn’t too

impressed with what we had. Too bad – because I always want to

LIKE a place especially local establishments. I’ll have to go

back & provide you with a “proper review”……..

Ted Turner Secret Salt Recipe

Ted Turner’s Secret Salt Recipe

1 1/2 tablespoons Coarse Salt (we use Kosher Salt)
1 tablespoons Seasoning Salt (we use Lawry’s – the orange stuff!)
1 tablespoon Onion Salt
1 1/2 tablespoons Garlic Salt
1 tablespoon Pepper

Directions

Mix together all ingredients.

Store in an airtight container for up to 3 months.

It was ok – not rushing back.

BUT I DID NOTICE — as I looked at this picture

I applied for a job at the PA Liquor Board.

I first must take a civil service test & the next

available date is November 18th.

I’m working on getting in earlier –

Anyone know how to do that?

I applied for a job with this company too.

livingsocial. It is for an “Experience Coordinator” –

which sounded PERFECT for me.

I would have to execute events, handle registrations,

engage with customers & make sure everyone is

having a GOOD TIME!!! really?? where do i sign up?

wait a minute — I think i just DID THAT!

Wegman’s grocery store is opening a LIQUOR STORE in

Cherry Hill, NJ – It would be a little bit of a hike but

working there would be something I would love.

I applied for a management position there.

NORTHEAST RACQUET Club —

where we play WALLEYBALL —

yup – it is that time of the year again…..

the Walleyball court.

essentially it is like volleyball in a racquetball court.

the ball is big & blue the size of a volleyball

but the texture of a racquetball

couple of the guys we BEAT tonight.

It’s been awhile since I attended a wine tasting.

Took a little break for the summer.

Missed the wine tastings & the people A LOT.

Thought I’d have to miss this month too because of the

“job situation”* but LUCKY for me, friend Tom said he’d

treat as an early birthday present. Thanks TOMMY!

Erika & Michael were recently married

first course: Peach Arugula Salad

paired with Tapena Verdaio –

it was a lighter bodied white, reminded me of a

sauvignon blanc

grilled vegetable gazpacho paired with

Penelope Sanchez granacha/syrah

i liked this blend. 85% Granacha 15% Syrah

ZUMAYA TEMPRANILLO —

another one I liked!
