Yesterday was a long day – up early –

playing 9 games of volleyball in the HEAT,

dinner after & home LATE —

so that designated Sunday as a day to relax, really.

Read the paper in bed, fed the birds, did laundry…….relaxed!

I needed new cross trainers so we went to

Eastern Mountain Sports —

we went to REI the other night but I didn’t find any there.

my new kicks – ASICS — aka “Ass Kicks” –

cross trainers so I can jump higher & run faster

Sad that BORDERS is going out of business –

good for us b/c everything is on sale

they have more than books — but they are not

discounted enough yet – we’ll go back when they

have better sales

I did buy some cards – they are 40% off

I also go these FUN pencils —

called SHMENCILS – they smell like the flavor they are labeled

i needed some bird food so we stopped at LOWE’s.

We went to Taormina’s because they are going on vacation.

They are closed all week.

Saturday 7.30.11 Volleyball Tournament in Pt Pleasant, finally!

Usually by the end of July I’ve already played 6 tournaments (or more)

in Pt Pleasant but since i threw in a couple broken ribs in my life

experience this was my FIRST tournament here this year!

It was super nice to be playing beach volleyball with my

partner Diana. We had a GREAT day & could ask for no more!

Great American Volleyball probably gets about 150 teams out on

a Saturday playing volleyball. That’s a lot of players.

the teams that won were clearly hi-er level players –

but they never played at the beach & weren’t sure

I always treat myself 🙂

before driving home we like to eat dinner.

7/29/11 REI & Whole Foods

We like shopping at REI – they have all kinds of fun

outdoors stuff – have you ever ben to REI?

REI was having a “garage sale” on Saturday –

people were camping out to get first dibs

on the bargains

this is a bike jersey I liked but didn’t get – yet!

after REI we went to Whole Foods for dinner.

You can get food at their salad bar or prepared food

& eat in this area

where you can get beer & wine samples.

This is a novelty idea for Pennsylvanians

as we have archaic liquor laws but slowly seem

to be relaxing…..as with this idea!

No adventures today – so it’s just random pictures……….

7.27.11 Duck Rescue, wasp sting

7.27.11

on my way home from work I saw this young duck

in the street limping along & using her wing like a crutch –

then she went into this fenced in area.

I had to convince someone who worked there

to let me into the Emergency Services to try & get her —

AND he had to wait for me b/c the gate closes & I would

have no way out. Animal Rescue – Someone has to do it!

Here she is with a bum leg. I’m not sure what can be done for her

if anything but I didn’t want to see her “sleeping on the side

of the road……” if you know what I mean!

sister Pat helped with the mission.

She drove us to Aark – which is a wildlife rehab/rescue.

my finger HURTS.

It has swollen up to almost but not quite double.

OUCH!! Michael ran out to the store & got me some

Benadryl & cortisone cream.
