Wednesday 10/20/10 Bike shoes, Vinny, Joyce, pierogies

Wednesday 10/20/10

This cleat is WHY you can’t wear Bike Shoes to a
Total Body Conditioning Class where one does
Jumping Jacks, push ups, step ups, walking lunges –
all on a hardwood floor.

I was confused today (obviously) & brought the wrong shoes

for class but the girls at the gym couldn’t

comprehend WHY I couldn’t  just wear my bike shoes.

Now YOU know…..

Cimg0794
Met up with my friend VINNY.
See that cash in my right hand??
Vinny bought a couple of the Michael Buble tickets.
DO YOU NEED A COUPLE??
Let me know!!  I have a few left.
Cimg0795
Me & my friend Joyce (

SWF) – enjoying

a cup of Pumpkin Spice Coffee.
Joyce has “connections” at our bike club
& she was able to arrange an exchange of the
SMALL shirt i was going to give away.
Joyce is a LIFESAVER (like our friend Billy Scheneider).
Cimg2879
These are 3 cheese pierogies & they are AWESOME!
My brother Larry got the pierogies from the
“polish place”

(Czerw’s Kielbasy) in Philadelphia.

I cooked them – pan fried in a little butter. Tasty.

Tuesday 10/19/10 Interior Design, dinner, dog, TSHIRT

Tuesday 10/19/10

Cimg2885
My friend JES being shy….. Jes is an Interior Designer
who helped us with our house 7 years ago.
She rocks…..i mean seriously –
have you seen our house??

Cimg2886
Jes is going to help with our basement finish.
If I had to coordinate it just with MICHAEL
-I’d have to go to jail b/c I would KILL HIM!
WHERE does he come up with some of those ideas?
Are you kidding me?
Cimg2888
I made Jes pretend she was washing her hands in the
sink we bought 5 yrs ago – when we were suppose to
get this done….. don’t ask, it’s a very sensitive subject.

Cimg2889
the vanity & sink (vessel) are quite awesome.
I forgot how great they were.
Cimg2890
we took Jes to our favorite place for dinner – TAORMINA’s.
Of course we had TOYS – this was a sticky bug
that walked down the wall….

(thanks Michael’s Mom!!!!)

Cimg2893
broke out a bottle of 2006 Ripassa by Zenato.
It was really VERY good.

I bought this back

in June when I played volleyball with my partner Suzy.

We came in 3rd that week….

You KNOW every bottle in my cellar tells a story…..

Cimg2896
I ordered out of the ordinary & got a filet mignon Pannini –
It was QUITE delicious & would totally recommend it!
Cimg2897
Weasel modeling the Long sleeve shirt up for grabs.
Cimg2898
This is the FIRST year I really LIKED (a lot) the
t-shirts from the Covered Bridge Ride we did
on Sunday. BUT they were out of the size
I ordered (Med) and Large looked huge
so I took a small….. big mistake…..
Seriously what was  I thinking???
Small????  LOL……….

You know what that means??  I have a shirt up for grabs….

It is a (really) SMALL  Long Sleeve Shirt.

I usually do – first come – first serve but this time:

I will randomly draw a name from those who want it.

hit me up tshirt wanters…….

??? It???s okay.
It???s okay to want someone you can???t have.
It???s okay to want something more.

It???s okay to cry when you???re hurt,

and it???s okay to stay mad at someone who hurt you.

Believe it or not, it???s always going to be okay.
That???s jus
t how it works.

Sometimes things don???t work out how you want them to,

and most of the time, it seems like they never will.
But eventually, everything is going to iron out some way or another.

You just have to believe, keep your faith, and move on. ???

THE VIBRAM EXPERIENCE

Read about my Vibram “experience”

Glove_shoes

Trying on the Vibrams

Day One

Been wanting the glove shoes FOREVER & now FINALLY got myself to Eastern Mountain Sports (EMS) to investigate them.
I’ve heard only GOOD REPORTS about these nerdy looking “sneakers” so it would behoove me to do further research.
Lesson numero uno: make sure you try on the RIGHT size…. I couldn’t get the darn things ON. Don’t rely on the BIG foot
thing they have to measure you because it is inaccurate. Finally – sales chick says: maybe you should try the next size? Ya think?
Meanwhile – I imagine part of the GREAT WORKOUT that people tell you about regarding these shoes (?) is putting them ON!
I was sweating! THEN – you have to invite EACH toe into it’s own space. This little piggy goes here, this piggy goes in here….
and so forth.  The experience improved once I was given the proper size & persuaded each toe to get into it’s own space.
Once I got the Vibrams on & each toe in place I was good to go. I was not 100% sold on them &  was forewarned there is a
“getting used to” period.  I didn’t think 20 minutes in the store was enough “getting to know each other time” so I took
the plunge, handed over a pile of cash & padded out of EMS sporting my new stylish (?) sock shoes – as I call them.
At this point we were off to Wegman’s for grocery shopping. I didn’t notice too many strange looks but I could feel them….
I wore them for a little longer & even took the dogs for a walk in them & they worked fine.  The left little toe hurt a little but
other than that they were cool for our “first date”.  I was not in love with them yet. They’re like a relationship.
They have to grow on you…. so it seems. Stay Tuned.

Vibrams

 Showing off the Vibrams

Vibrams – Day two wearing

I was late for class tonight because I had to put on my “shoes”.  No easy task with VIBRAMS.
Mind you – I generally wear Danskos which you just slip your feet into & go.
I wasn’t running anywhere – well – other than running late for school!
I just wanted to wear the vibrams so the toes/ feet could get used to the glove shoe.
I wore them tonight for maybe 4 hours. The little toe was OK this time but tonight my right big toe hurt a little.
“They” say it is normal to have initial rubbings/blisters but “once you get used to them”
allegedly is likened to a full blow LOVE AFFAIR. We’ll see…… verdict still out from this jury……

Hmmm

 THE VIBRAMS!

Vibrams – day 3, 4 & 5 of ownership

Disappointingly I did not get the chance to bond with my VIBRAMS.
Wednesday night was Walleyball & I was afraid to make the plunge & wear them playing.
Then Thursday – which was actually my day off from life as I know it –
I FORGOT to wear them & <gasp> actually just walked around the house barefooted!!!!
Friday, as the Wine Cruise expert, I felt Vibrams were inappropriate footwear…..

Vibram Relationship continued DAY 6

Today would be a true test — truer than any day in the past.
I took the plunge & wore the VIBRAMS to a day long outing…..a beer tasting.
I figured if they DID start hurting I would never even know.  EUREKA! they are getting easier to put on.
I don’t even sweat anymore. The “problem piggy” is always the the baby toe. I think it just does not like to be alone?
In any case, the day long wearing of the glove shoes went swimmingly well.
I thought that description would be accurate as the Beer Tasting was held at a Swim Club.
I wore them ALL DAY long & really just towards then end of the day after 7 hours the big toe started rubbing a little.
Haven’t worn them running YET. I suppose that will be the real test.
I’ll try them inside (on a treadmill) and outside running with the dogs.
After that report I promise to end this silly DEAR DIARY adventure……..

Running on the Treadmill with the VIBRAMS
FIRST – the stupid Vibrams are STILL a PITA to get on. I swear that pinky toe gets lonely & thus resists getting into it’s own space.
Oh, if only I had my own space… that pinky toe doesn’t know how good it has it!
anyways…today was the day to RUN in the Vibrams – indoor on a treadmill.
It was ok – a little odd at first as you strike with the ball of your foot vs the heel when you wear “sneakers” (running shoes).
They did not make me jump higher or run faster. My feet/legs/calves all felt fine after a 2 mile run.
I usually do 3 miles but I was time deprived today & besides, “they” say you should do less than your “normal” distance.
Good to report – no blisters.  The past few times I wore them I had “rubbing” issues with a few of the toes (but never blisters).
I stand by the status response when someone inquired about the vibrams today:
“I walked all day in them at the beer fest Saturday that was fine. Running today in the vibrams was ok.
nothing to write home about. I don’t get people’s “love affair” with them.
I don’t HATE them but I’m certainly not going to marry them!”
Stayed tuned for “running outdoors with the dogs while wearing the Vibrams”.

Weasel
This picture has NOTHING to do with the Vibram Story.
I just think it is an ADORABLE picture of Weasel 🙂
