10/13/12 Black Bear Century

We were riding in an organized bike ride today

called the Black Bear Century.

There were various routes – we were aspiring to

do the 66 mile ride today.

Yes, it is not uncommon to see BEAR!!

on the road at 6 a.m.

One light is the moon ( the bottom one)

the other is a Star!

almost there – the views are already stunning

We met Judith & Michael W. there —

Judith using the Changing Tent to get into

her bike gear.

We’re all ready to tackle the bear!!

Jim got a flat tire on the descent of a pretty steep hill

well, it was more a BLOW OUT than a FLAT

We had to cut our ride short due to Mechanical Issues.

We only rode 40 miles instead of 66.

darn.

Since we only did 40 miles we were able to make

the last tour at Weyerbacher Brewery.

They don’t have to go far for a field trip.

We went to Pearly Bakers for a late lunch.

Judith & Michael W met up with us.

We drank & ate, repeat.

Weasel & Chester were happy to have us home 🙂

Friday 10/12/12 Fred’s with Friends, shopping, SKIES!

Yippee it’s FRIDAY!!!

since a bunch of us were off work, out of work, retired

we went to Fred’s for Breakfast!!

MY MUG — don’t mess with it.

At Fred’s (private breakfast club) you can bring your

own mug, leave it & use it each time you go.

Friends have permission to use my mug but

NO STRANGERS!! So I caught this girl using

my mug & made her give it back – really!!!

I whipped up some Risotto for dinner –

anyone ever make it?? It’s a chore –

but really delicious….

At what age does one feel like a grown-up?

10/10/12 gym, Unemployment, Wine tasting, brother Ray & basenjis

our gym was recently renovated & a friend asked

about the men’s locker rooms.

The only thing I noticed was a new rug.

No other evidence of upgrades – at least

in the women’s locker room…..

LA FITNESS is definitely a no frills gym

but the instructors are quite awesome.

Saw this license plate while driving yesterday.

Can you decipher??

I had to go to the Career Link office just to use the phone.

Yes, just to use the phone. Crazy, right?

there is a direct line to the Unemployment Office

so you can get right through. Otherwise it is an

exercise in futility. Redial for 45 minutes then on

hold for 45 minutes & risk getting disconnected.

Craziness. Fortunately, it seems, my “issue” has

been resolved & after 6 weeks of no compensation

$$ should resume. My savings account is happy about that!

HOPEFULLY I will soon get a job & won’t have to

be concerned about Unemployment!!!

Held a wine tasting at the Newtown Liquor store.

Sold 10 cases of wine in 2 hours – that’s pretty

darn good!! How can you resist NOT buying

wine for $4.99 when is usually costs $10.99?

of wine then I went over his house at the

conclusion of the tasting.

10/9/12 Gym. Port, wine school, birthday cards

Our gym has recently been renovated

they did a decent job but cut so many corners –

a typical LA FITNESS move.

We had a Port Staff Tasting & I discovered

that Ports are pretty good!!

Let me know if you need any info as I am now

a Port expert!

we tried 7 wines tonight from Germany, Austria,

Hungary & Greece

me & friend Rosemary — we used to work together

at JSW Wines and now we go to school together

got my very first ever birthday/Christmas card

from my brother Michael

Also I was very excited to get a birthday card

AND a letter from my pen pal Stefanie.

Anyone else have a pen pal?

They’re fun to have!
