9/25/12 Tuesday

instead of going to the gym,

my morning exercise was calling unemployment.

it takes 30-40 minutes to redial & call

bc it is perpetually busy , then

another 40 minutes on hold before someone answers.

Today I had to call PA & NJ unemployment –

joy!

I thought I was just getting

a picture of gas prices in NJ.

THEN I saw him (after taking photo)

Monday 9/24/12 Excel Class & job hunting!

Monday 9/24/12

I was back to Career Link for an Excel Class –

it’s all free so I thought I’d take advantage of it

They offer many services in this office

to help people get jobs.

I’m pretty much always the youngest one there…

Well – I thought I was the youngest one –

until I saw this little boy!!!

One good thing about this place is there’s

a direct line to Unemployment so if you

have questions you get immediate assistance.

The alternative is to call from home & be on hold

(or get a busy signal) for hours or DAYS. yes, days.

Today, I called NJ Unemployment, as was

advised by the PA rep. After being on hold for 2 hours,

the rep disconnected me. When I called NJ back

immediately,(at 3pm) I got a recording saying they were

done taking calls for the day. Frustrating!

If I just got a job I wouldn’t have to deal

with any of this. Ideas, anyone??

It’s a job and has benefits.

it was for a Non-Profit, don’t know who

the organization is as it was through an agency

this job sounded good so I took a stab at this one:

Special Events Coordinator at Valley Forge Casino

last job I applied for was a Sales Rep

at a wine company called Monsieur Touton.

So…. to answer many peoples question —

I am applying for lots of different jobs –

NOT just in the Wine Industry.

That would be my preference –

but at this juncture – a JOB would be

my preference…..

If you hear of anything that would be perfect

for ME or Michael let us know —

We WANT to work & are ready,

Willing & Able……

Sunday 9/23/12 School Work, Football, Picassa

Sunday 9/23/12

After taking Chester for a run and avoiding homework

for as long as I could – I finally buckled down

& did some school work. No wine tastings today.

Michael put out some snacks for his friends

that were coming over to watch the Eagles game.

He really likes pretzels. 3 kinds.

Michael had a bunch of guys over for the game

I bet friend Shannon $1 on the game since she

lives in Arizona & the Eagles were playing her team.

Of course the Eagles played terribly & lost so a

dollar is in the mail to Shannon. Congratulations!

22 September 2012 Bike Ride from Victory Brew Pub

Happy First Day of Autumn!!

Today we did a bike ride in Chester County –

about an hour from Ivyland.

The “real” ride was actually Sunday but we,

due to some miscommunication, ended up

doing the ride on Saturday (thus saving $80)

in registration fees….

Victory Brewery at 8 in the morning………

they put us on a recreation path to warm our

legs up before the hills…. and there WERE hills….

Michael & Mike fixed my flat tire.

I don’t know why this keeps happening!

we saw a little horse show – it was cute

stopped at St Peter’s Bakery for tasty treats –

I should have gotten pictures of those –

I forgot!

there was a scenic overlook that was gorgeous —

but it seems my camera was sweaty & I didn’t

notice until now that the photos were slightly

blurred. Too bad bc it was such nice scenery.

I ended up with 54 miles on my odometer

Mike’s said 52. I’ll go with mine.

it was a good ride, very challenging –

AND I did it……

stopped in at Victory for a beer & a snack

CHEERS the Michael’s — well done!

I always opt for the sampler —

remember, I can’t drink a whole beer –

I just like to taste them!

I drink because I enjoy the taste of beer

they fill up your growlers here & it’s like

the growler gets to go on a ride as

it gets filled up

one more quick stop before heading home –

The Iron Abbey is perpetually packed —

unless you go on a Saturday afternoon at 4pm

When we got home we were pretty tired.

It was a long day. I ended up watching a movie,

something I very rarely do.

I recorded this back in January & figured

NOW was a good time to watch it.

I liked the movie especially with

the dog’s name being YELLOW (my favorite color)

9/21/12 wine, pickles, Publick House

9/21/12

when you get new vintages of wine they are supposed

to go on the bottom but apparently someone was slacking

so we had to switch all the wines around & put 2010

on the bottom & 2009 on the top.

It’s a huge project but I like doing it.

later we had a wine tasting for staff

we liked ALL of these wines.

If you see them in the store don’t be afraid to buy them.

Also, I can bring them home for you if you want.

Customer gave me some home made jalapeno pickles!!

I make friends with all the customers – you probably find

that hard to believe.

we had dinner at the Publick House

because I had an awesome coupon!!

Dinner pretty much was FREE!

we tried their Cheesesteak spring rolls

& would highly recommend them

For dinner I had the appetizer potato skins

stuffed with buffalo chicken.

Enough for two meals.

Dear Cactus Killer,

Thank you for being so helpful as to water my cactus.

No doubt you felt it was in desperate need of TLC,

as I seldom seem to pay it any mind whatsoever.

However, in being such a super helpy-helperton,

you seem to have murdered it, and now I am sad.

In the future, please kindly refrain from caring

for any sort of plant or plant-like object on my desk.

Sadly, a former owner of an awesome cactus.

Michael found this snake skin on his walk

with Weasel this morning — they also found

the snake but it slithered away too quickly

to get a picture!

Now I just go to boot camp late –

I learned the system….

I like going to the gym or running with Chester

first thing in the morning. If I wait until later

I can find too many excuses not to go….

we stopped at Hatboro Beverage bc

Michael had to get prices on drinks & ice

for our Covered Bridge Ride next week.

Ann’s Choice

While I was at Mary’s house my neighbor Kim called me.

I had applied for a job at Ann’s Choice & she was giving me

the update on it since she works there.

Job is still open & I am still pursuing it.

Ann’s Choice is a retirement community & I would be

interacting with the residents.

So for those wondering if I am applying to

jobs other than WINE – the answer is a BIG YES.

THIS was delicious!! Eggplant Parm Helen style.

I bought this eggplant ( $1) at my Farmer Stand

where I get the fresh laid eggs.

I marinated the eggplant & grilled it.

then added cheese & sauce –

put it in the oven for 10 minutes.

Was soooooo good. No leftovers!

I’ve perfected my garlic bread recipe as well.

Soft butter & lots of garlic, a little grated parmesan

or locatelli – whatever we have, bacon bits too!

someone asked how I was enjoying my “time off”.

REALLY??? I haven’t had time off since Vacation

last August. I work part time, I go to school & I have

a FULL TIME job looking for a full time job.
