2/26/11 saturday basement shopping

Previously, we were just “looking”.

Today the credit card came out of the wallet…..

this will be the bathroom floor tile

we are going with a HEATED floor…

looking forward to toasty toes!!!

bought the river rocks for the shower floor.

they were quite pricey but something I

did not want to compromise on.

CLEAN WHITE paint for the trim & doors.

~ I’m getting a manicure later today……

prep work for tonight’s activities….

2/25/11 garden lobby, bagpipe, basement, dinner

We have a garden in our office lobby

in honor of the upcoming popular

Philadelphia Flower Show

my seat mate on the train (in first class)

had this ……THING….

I was trying to figure out what it was.

Do YOU know?

turns out it is an electronic BAGPIPE….

I learned everything (and more) about it….

best friends before he got off the train

there was his music – he was practicing

for some upcoming parades….

today our contractor painted our ceiling

we’re going for the industrial look…….

vs doing a dropped ceiling….

I think it will look good when it’s all done.

i hope………

it’s not finished yet — it needs another coat…

I’m sure Jim is thrilled about that beings

the first coat was a “pita”…..

dinner at Taormina’s was awesome….

I went with one of their specials tonight.

Home made pastina with monkfish & clams

in their special secret sauce topped with

fresh mozzarella. Delicious.

The Krispy Kreme Burger Sandwich

The Krispy Kreme Burger Sandwich

I saw a restaurant in Philly makes these burgers

& cannot keep them on the menu. They sell out

every time they have them……

Krispy Kreme doughnuts came to

Philly back in the summer but this was

the first time I got there……

Hot Krispy Kreme Doughnuts (yummy)

carefully cut a doughnut in half lengthwise

add a burger – we like them rare

Cheddar Cheese — I bought cheddar slices —

wish I bought the “real stuff”

some bacon……oink oink oink

a little BBQ sauce……

there she is….. a burger on a KK doughnut…..

I tried it & preferred my dessert before/after dinner…..rather than WITH.

Danny Diehl devoured it in minutes…….was wanting another….

but the cupboard was bare…..

I would say — give it a try ONCE & see how you like it…..

they came from shutterbug so I am guessing

Amy or Jackie???

had to go to LOWE’s tonight to buy paint

for the basement project.

Jes, my designer & I picked out colors from Home Depot,

but Michael insisted we go to Lowe’s ….

he had a coupon.

We got pretty close to the colors we

initially chose. It will all work out.

assuming I don’t kill Michael first, of course.

Lowe’s lady mixing our paint.

she was nice.

Jim covered the walls in plastic b/c he’s

going to be spray painting the ceiling…

we are going for the “industrial look” –

NOT a dropped ceiling.

Jim also installed a few doors….

day by day we are getting this project done.

I needed WINE after dealing with Michael

tonight …. he was in rarer form than usual….

The GRACE CARD movie review

The GRACE CARD

The Grace Card tells the story of two cops, Mac McDonald and Sam Wright,

assigned to ride patrol together. Mac McDonald is a miserable person.

Seventeen years ago, his young son was hit and killed by a car.

His anger is still impacting both his family life and his job as a cop.

His surviving son Blake is hanging out with a bad crowd and flunking

out of school. His wife is seeking counseling to cope with their unhappy life.

His supervisor at the police department is also concerned about his attitude

and assigns him a partner, which Mac is not happy about. His new partner is

Sam Wright, who is a part-time pastor who would like it to be full time.

He is a cop in order to provide for his family.

we found it a little predictable….

the premise of the movie is based on this:

2/23/11 "pen holder", tiles, basement

my friend Jackie sent me leopard coasters for a Christmas gift

& I was using one at my desk for my pens & cell phone.

BUT… one was not quite big enough so my friend MARY

sewed two together for me & now it is a perfect pen

& cell phone holder for my desk.

Thank you both Jackie AND Mary 🙂

I’m lucky to have such great friends!!!

these tiles are for one of the basement walls –

they will get painted greenish first before installing

Jim, I think, is the neatest contractor in the world.

He was doing spackling & sanding which creates

dust. He had all the doorways sealed off in plastic.

Jim brought in some doors today
