TREAT BONANZA for the dogs.

These are their bedtime snacks & they get

one or two before bed. The canister lasts

a long time – but the only place I could ever find

them was PETCO – then they stopped

carrying them. Lucky for me b/c I shopped the

Internet & found them for 1/2 price.

If you need dog treats at a good price

How you spend your thoughts

++++++++++++++++=============================

How are you spending your precious, powerful thoughts?

Are you spending them on the things you desire

or on the things you detest?

Would you waste your money buying things

you didn't even want?

It makes no more sense to waste your thoughts

on those things you don't want.

Sunday 11/7/10 Bradford Dam

Sunday 11/7/10

Thought I’d get Picture of the Day done now –
that way I can read & relax the rest of the day –
until the Eagles game comes on & HOPEFULLY WIN –
especially b/c I have a dollar bet on the game with sister Pat
& she already won a dollar from me yesterday…..
Cimg1970
we discovered Nike Park yesterday & fortunately for me
one of my loyal Picture of the Day readers directed me
to THIS park — which is at the other end of Nike Park –
and allows immediate access to the dam —
versus a 1 1/4 mile walk from Nike.
(thank Bruce!!!)

We walked 2 miles but the dogs, no doubt,
did double that!!!  The dogs were tuckered out!!

They both got baths when we got home & now they both smell like

WET DOGS despite me using a yummy smelling shampoo on them.

Ways to Beat Negativity

Tell yourself a positive story.
Life is a story. The story we tell ourselves
and the role we play in that story determines
the quality and direction of our life.
Instead of a drama or a horror movie,
define your life as an inspirational tale.
Instead of being the victim,
see yourself as a fighter and over-comer.

Replace “have to” with “get to.”
This simple word swap can change your mind-set and your approach
to work and life. It turns a complaining voice to an appreciative voice,
and acknowledges that life is a gift???not an obligation.
So often we grudgingly say things like
“I have to go to this meeting,”
or “I have to make a bunch of phone calls.”
In reality, it???s not about what we have to do.
It???s about what we get to do.
Research shows that when we practice gratitude,
we get a measurable boost in happiness
that energizes us and enhances our health.

No more complaining.
Abide by the “no complaining” rule.
When you realize you’re about to complain,
replace your thoughts and words with positive actions.
Let your complaints help you identify what you don’t want
so that you can focus on what you do want.
The key is to turn complaints into solutions.

(i was a couple days behind – never missed

a day in 4.5 yrs!)

Cimg3040
i got a letter from a friend awhile ago & she decorated
the envelope – she’s quite artistic….. so i recycled
her art work on a letter I was sending —
wonder who is getting Fan Mail from helcha?

ran some errands with sister Pat today.
Illg’s market was one of our stops.

http://www.illgsmeats.com/

Cimg0914
it was a small market & everyone was friendly & helpful.
Their specialty is meats but they have lots of other
farm fresh products as well.
Cimg0915
MEATS!!  Their selection was plentiful.
No doubt we’ll go back & visit.
It’s not too far from our house – maybe 20 minutes.
Cimg0919
we made a wrong turn & ended up on this road…
well, actually, it was someone’s driveway.
We liked how all the trees were symmetrically lined up
Cimg0921
We found what we were looking for –
this park that has a dam.
I’m going to go back with the dogs –
maybe tomorrow?
Cimg0922
our next stop was The Fresh Market —
we love this place —
they offer local & organic everything!!
Today they had a major food tasting –
every time we turned around there were samples.

Ichi Nichi, Issho: One Day, One Lifetime

Ichi Nichi, Issho: One Day, One Lifetime

ย “Ichi nichi” means “one day”; “issho” means “one lifetime.”ย

This expression tells us how we should live our daily lives.

Each day and every day, your life unfolds and evolves.

Slowly and surely, your life experiences builds up.

Each day is a “miniature” of the whole canvas of life.

ย There is also another way to think of “issho.”

Try to imagine that your whole life

would have to be summed up by one day.

You would try to have the best day possible,

and you would try to concentrate hard.

ย If you live this way on a daily basis,

if you gave one hundred percent of your effort every day,

then you will begin feel contented.

You will truly feel that each day is valuable

and that nothing is a waste of time.

This exercise can give you valuable insight into your life.

Everyone wants to be happier and to have a better life.

That’s the way we are.

But, we have to make a constant effort in order to live more fully.

Every day, make sure you are giving your best.

This is the only way to improve yourself and to feel that you are growing.

ย “Ichi Nichi, Issho” applies to every aspect of your life.

It is a very simple expression, but it is very, very important.

Spinach Pasta Carbonara

Spinach Pasta Carbonara

  • TOTAL TIME: 35 MIN
  • SERVINGS: 4 to 6
  • Ingredients

      1. 1/2 pound lean slab bacon, cut into 1/2-inch dice
      2. 1 pound spinach fettuccine
      3. 1 cup freshly grated Parmigiano-Reggiano cheese (3 ounces)
      4. 1 large egg plus 2 large yolks
      5. 2 teaspoons coarsely ground pepper
      6. One 5-ounce container baby spinach
      7. Salt

    Directions

    1. In a large, deep skillet, cook the bacon over moderately low heat until crisp, 7 minutes.
    2. In a large pot of boiling salted water, cook the fettuccine until almost al dente. Meanwhile, in a bowl, whisk the 1 cup of grated cheese with the egg, egg yolks and pepper. Carefully measure out 1 1/4 cups of the pasta cooking water and gradually whisk it into the egg mixture. Add the spinach to the fettuccine, then drain immediately.
    3. Reheat the bacon in the skillet. Off the heat, add the fettuccine and spinach. Slowly pour in the egg mixture, tossing constantly with tongs. Set the skillet over moderate heat for a few seconds to warm the sauce; do not boil. Season lightly with salt and serve at once.
