Saturday 10/2/10 dogs & cats

Saturday 10/2/10

Today we took the dogs to a Dog Festival http://www.dogdaddy.org/
being held at our school – where we take EXCEL class.
It’s in New Hope, PA — 25 ish minutes from Ivyland.
I originally wanted to take them to the beach but admitted I was
being overly ambitious with that idea.

the wild cats….
Cimg2774
they are so darn CUTE!!  I wish we could keep one.
Does anyone want one? There are 4 of them.
I caught two today & Michael made me “throw them back”
as if they were a “catch & release” program….
He wants to organize a catch & get them all at the
same time. We learned about a couple places today
where we could take them.
But I’d rather someone I know get them.

October 1st 2010 Lilly’s Cocina Loco

October 1st 2010

Tonight we made plans to go to Lilly’s Cocina Loca
in Newtown, PA – about 20 minutes from Ivyland.
They had 1/2 price margaritas before 7pm.
It was a mad dash to get there because I got
stuck at work – we were busy – WOW!
I did as much business today than I did all of last month.
This is good!

Friday 10/1/10 crawling in the attic, herding wild kittens

Friday 10/1/10

Cimg0616
needed the heavy equipment (ladder) to do
a little crawl about in the attic before work.
sister PAT left a note that her bedroom
ceiling was leaking. The best time to find
a leak is when it’s happening.
Cimg0618
there goes Michael – up to the attic
Cimg0619
up up & away….. i had to go last so I
could take pictures…..
Cimg0620
Michael doing the leak investigation.
Results were inconclusive. I don’t know what we are
going to do? Just hope it doesn’t happen every time it rains?
We did have some pretty wicked rains the night before.
Cimg0622
all we have up in the attic is insulation.
To my surprise Michael has nothing stashed up here.
Cimg0624
our office building changed management companies
so they are are doing renovations. I meant to get
pictures of the lobby but forgot. Hopefully they
won’t do too much work on it so i can get
before & after photos.
Cimg0649
Michael’s new job :

herding wild kittens!

Seriously we have a family of 4 kittens
& mom living behind our wood pile.
Michael is trying to catch them.
do they taste like chicken?

Thursday 9/30/10 Interview, more wine research, Taormina’s

Thursday 9/30/10

Cimg0607
Had my interview here as a Phila Sales Rep for
Laird & Company. Interview went extremely well –
I don’t know how it could have gone any better.

They were quite impressed with my initiative

to conduct the Wine Research –

Heck, wouldn’t everyone do that???

Cimg0608
neighbors Roman & Denise’s mailbox –

I might need one of those – it’s super cute!

Wednesday 9/29/10 Wine Research……..

Wednesday 9/29/10

As many of you know work at my current company has it ups & downs.
At times it seems more downs than ups though recently more UPS than downs.
Of course that would be the case because in the “down” times I’ve been
sending resumes out like crazy. I’d like a job: 1) that I LOVE, 2) where I can be productive,
& 3) be able to help people which brought me to the WINE JOB APPLICATION.
I forgot all about it because you know how it is applying for jobs in “Internet land”…
Next thing you know – I have an interview with Laird and Company (distiller & importer).
http://www.lairdandcompany.com/ for a Phila Sales Rep…..
we’ll see what happens!  btw – Does ANYONE know this company?
Please instill me with your insight if you have scoop!

Cimg1737
after extensive research on the Internet regarding
Laird & Company’s products my first stop was
the Wine & Spirit shop.  I called ahead & had them
put aside 5 wines for my “research”…..
Cimg1738

Helen’s “Homework”  – drink wine! (well, more like a tasting)

~ I thought it might be cool if I went into the interview
& said Yes I am familiar with your products –
actually drank some last night….
Cimg1739

started with two whites

~Vernaccia di San Gimignano

-(PIETRAFITTA ) fresh & fruit, fuller bodied

~ MAREGA  PINOT GRIGIO – fruity

(not sweet) lighter bodies

Cimg1740

3 reds

LABET

Pinot Noir – many of the outstanding qualities of a fine French
Burgundy at an everyday price.

ANTONELLI

Sagrantino di Montefalco -This wine must be made with 100% Sagrantino grapes.

Often compared to itsneighbor, Brunello di Montalcino.

SANTA SOFIA

SANTA SOFIA AMARONE – Intense bouquet with a delicate, full, warm and velvety taste.

Cimg1744
The wine line-up.

All were drinkable (there were no Yellow Tails in this line up!)

& we each had our favorites. I had a few helpers because

we each have different palates when tasting. I wanted to get

opinions across the board.

Cimg1745
My research assistants – neighbors Vanessa

(left) & Deb (right).

~ Vanessa & I both LOVED the Amarone & Deb liked them ALL!

"Bacon Mushroom Recipe"

Many people have asked
 for the “baconMushroom Recipe –
so here you go…….

Bacon Mushroom Recipe”

The Mushroom bacon is EASY to make –
but i can tell you —  a little expensive —
You use Shitake Mushrooms
which are known as the Lobster of Mushrooms – DELICIOUS —
As a snack I would make at least 1/4 lb for each person –
The shrooms really shrink up …. (george syndrome – shrinkage….)

Preheat the oven to 350 degrees.
Remove the stems and cut mushrooms in 1/2 (or 1/4 if they are BIG)
throw them in a ziploc & sprinkle with canola oil (don’t over do it)
(u could prob use olive oil too)
and some salt – but not alot of salt
(the recipe calls for Kosher salt but i think any kind will do)

Shake them up so they get coated well —

put them SINGLE LAYER on baking sheets & cook about
30 minutes at 350 degrees

keep an eye on them starting at 20 minutes –
some pieces may get crispy b4 others – remove those
and let the others keep bacon (baking…. get it? HA!)

Put them on a plate lined with a paper towel to
absorb any extra oil.

IF YOU DO MAKE THEM –
let me know how they turn out
or better yet – invite me over to try them…..

9/28/10 pumpkin spice coffee, dinner & school,

but I do like this seasonal

Cimg2727

Cimg2729

Not sure what the problem was but they
let us back in shortly after the evacuation.
