Tuesday 8/21/12

mini beanie baby squirrel

that is getting a new home

on my run today I wanted to put the squirrel

in the hollow log but the people (& DOGS!)

were home so I found an alternative home

for the squirrel right outside the park.

I’ll visit Wednesday or Thursday

& see if he still lives there……

on my run I saw a REAL squirrel.

We don’t have squirrels in our neighborhood

so I do enjoy seeing them & this one

posed so nicely for me

I went to work (late!) right from the gym today.

The gym is no frills ( you have to bring your own

“Stuff” – towels, shampoo, etc….) & classes

are quite crowded BUT the locker room is

always CLEAN. that’s a bonus.

after work I whipped up a Polish dinner with

home-made pierogies & kielbasa.

The kielbasa wasn’t from our regular guy

so it was just ok.

you seem to be retaining FOOD —

My dad gained 7 pounds in the last week.

I thought you LOST weight with Cancer???

possibly the scale was wrong?

Had a new drink with dinner – Honest ade –

“just a tad sweet’ & only a 100 calories.

I liked it.

My two favorite summer wines –

got them by special request for neighbor Tanya.

She has good taste……

Remember the Cappuccino K-cups I’ve been looking for?

I found out why I can’t find them. They’re discontinued 😦

Don’t you HATE when your favorite product is

discontinued?? Shouldn’t they pre-warn you so

you can stockpile them??

Then sell them on Ebay for ridiculous prices

like some people are doing…..

Anyone have a flavor they LOVE & I should try?

After tomorrow I’m not going to be back

Sunday 8/19/12 biking to breakfast, doing sister Pat stuff, relaxing, dinner

Sunday 8/19/12

This morning Michael & I both wanted

to do a recovery exercise after yesterday’s activities.

Michael biked 102 miles to the beach Saturday

to watch me play volleyball!!

Today we rode 11 miles to & from breakfast.

Just wanted to keep moving…..

We went back to the new restaurant

we recently discovered:

We take our paper recycles over to the Fire House-

they get money when the container is full.

Neighbors – do you take your papers over there?

It’s a little inconvenient but we do it anyway.

I don’t think I ever got stuff at the Deli counter..

that’s usually sister Pat’s job.

I actually had to take a number & order stuff!

I did it & survived!

mowing the lawn as Chester supervises…..

I got to READ today – I was VERY excited to relax!!

I actually read the Sunday paper on Sunday!!

a small triumph that makes me very happy.

I wish sarcasm was available as font.

yummy stuff – very tasty.

old bikes for a visit with Michael my bike mechanic.

Saturday 8/18/12 Beach Volleyball in Pt Pleasant, NJ

Saturday 8/18/12

the weather was iffy with rain but we wanted

to play so my partner Allie & I headed to the beach

It was a small turnout but the Tournament

went on as scheduled

Partner Allie next to our house

since the beach tag people weren’t there

first thing in the morning when it was raining,

they made us all get off the beach & line up to

buy beach tags ($9 each)

Our record was 7 wins 1 loss coming out of pool play.

This is one of the teams we beat.

The girl in the green is MEAN & un-sportsmanlike.

We got a “bye” (didn’t have to play) in the first

round of playoffs then won the semi final match.

We lost in the Final match & ended up with

the Silver medal today. Next time we’ll get GOLD!

Friday august 17th Grange Fair 2012

Every year we like going to the Grange Fair —

The Fair includes produce & animal competitions

among farmers. It also has fun things like

hot dog pig races, tractor parades, horse hay rides, tractor pulls and even a chocolate cake baking contest!

Thursday 8/16/12 work, bike & brew…..covered bridge ride

finally got the LEOPARD mobile back

& she is now purring quite nicely.

WARNING — don’t leave your convertible top down

during a rain storm. bad things happen.

though – every adversity has a benefit —-

the mechanic had a nice day!

YAY!! got my school books for next semester.

15 weeks of sniffing, swirling & tasting.

It’s going to be HARD but I am doing it.

Bike portion of Bike & Brew —

we rode 21 miles tonight.

Nice for an after work ride.

WE stopped at the Publick House & used their bike rack.

Also ran inside & said HI to bartneder Mike —

should have gotten his picture too!!!

Plus we did miss JIM who was away on vacation.

8/15/12 Ducks, Biking, Fred’s, Tanner Brothers,Grange Fair alert, Kitchen Table

8/15/12

We had a “bunch” of ducks visit our yard today.

(bunch is real terminology for more than 1 duck – I Googled it!)

There were 8 Females total – (one handicapped)

I fed them hot dog rolls & rye bread & they liked it!

our first bike venture this morning –

12 miles at 13.6 mph/pace -that’s

good for me on hilly terrain.

Michael was feeling “short of breath” (but no chest pains…..)

so we went home & drove to a flatter area to bike….

Have a Positive Attitude!

We drove to Washington Crossing Park

& biked up to FRED’s private breakfast club

in New Hope, PA.

It’s about 8 miles – our pace here was 16 mph.

That’s REALLY good for me.

We got to Fred’s late for breakfast but it was

still PACKED! btw – they have a special

breakfast burrito on Wednesday’s only –

I didn’t get it – they’re too big.

But next time I go on a Wednesday

I will plan better….

I had an over easy egg & toast — we still had biking

to do so I didn’t want to eat too much.

they do their own baking here at Fred’s.

We particularly liked the containers that say

The Good Stuff (top right)

& The BIG SECRET (middle, 2nd from top)

finishing up our 2nd ride of the day.

We rode 21.2 miles on the 2nd tour…..

In Pennsylvania motorists are required to

give cyclists 4 feet when passing.

A lot of cars generally are courteous when

passing but there are quite a few who aren’t.

We had a couple close drive-bys today —

which I don’t get. Do the motorists realize

they can Kill you if they hit you??

which is a big bummer bc accessibility to

the restroom is one reason we like to

start/end at this location.

We weren’t sure what this tractor was hauling —

as we got closer we could better examine the load –

it was a wagon full of GREEN BEANS!!

It wasn’t me……

Whenever we shop at Tanner Brother’s we

always visit the Butter Cake. We don’t buy it,

we just VISIT it………

Accident down the street from our house

at Bristol & Jacksonville.

Traffic was jammed up for awhile but cleared

up fairly quick.

I love getting TY cards as much as I like giving them!

it was a nice, unexpected surprise 🙂

On the hunt for Gloria Jean’s CAPPUCCINO K-cups.

Any ideas where I might find them??

I looked today at Kohl’s & previously at

Bed, Bath & Beyond, Target & Walmart.

I just might have to order them on-line…..

We usually play volleyball on Wednesday nights but

the rain had other ideas for us.

I recently bought one of those Groupon coupons

for this newer restaurant called KITCHEN TABLE.

It is a byob so that’s a bonus.

The owner has 2 other restaurants:

It’s Nutts in Titusville, NJ & Sandbar in New Hope, PA.

We did like it & are looking forward to going back.
